Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae PV Analysis

First there was Jing Yuan, who "turned back the furious tides when they were on the verge of overwhelming all," and now there is Dan Heng, who "propped up the great edifice as it was about to collapse." After the debut of Dan Heng's new form, the color schemes can finally be unified when the two of them perform a combination technique. Dan Heng had just emerged from the nightmare of being pursued by Blade, and now another layer has been added—the crash of the Astral Express. So, what exactly is going on? Let's explore this together by looking at Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae's PV.

Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng • Permansor

Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae. This PV uses many symbolic techniques to depict Dan Heng's inner world. The beginning of the PV shows a scene of the Express about to jump. On the table lies a group photo of the three Express crew members, with Dan Heng in the center, seemingly eating cake. It appears to be an unreleased photo from Dan Heng's birthday.

Next is the characteristic lying-in-bed segment—one can't help but mention who has had trouble sleeping since the game's launch. After waking up, Dan Heng slowly moves forward as an intense piece of music swells; the meme of the plastic chair is simply too deeply ingrained. As Dan Heng walks towards the background, you can see new dust on his right cheek, perhaps from the crash scene when he first arrived in Amphoreus. It's at this moment we understand why Dan Heng is sleeping poorly again, corresponding to his description in the storyline about our crash—because the sight of the Astral Express crashing and disappearing has become another psychological shadow for Dan Heng

In the next scene, he holds us, the Trailblazer. Then, within seconds, the Trailblazer gradually burns out and dissipates. The illusion of death at that moment transforms into an inner demon, entangling him once again. The scene after that evokes a feeling similar to the Infinity Castle from Demon Slayer, though in the context of Honkai: Star Rail, it should probably be called the "Infinity Express City". What follows is the transition from 3D to 2D animation, which is particularly eye-catching. Accompanied by the musical beat, Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae makes his appearance. The subsequent design is even more stunning: countless train carriages pass behind him, reminiscent of the hyperspace dimension in Interstellar, and the frame freezes on the receding figures of the Express family.

Later, we see the train windows, appearing like photographic film strips during high-speed movement. Dan Heng reveals an extremely authoritative front-facing profile, summoning the golden dragon. He then leaps and dashes between the carriages; each window represents a different form of Dan Heng. The train windows resemble movie filmstrips, showcasing the three forms of Imbibitor Lunae, Dan Heng, and Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae. The act of cutting down monsters inside the train carriage is also recorded in a story about a Void Hunter from another game. Is this not the power of Preservation? After all, eliminating all enemies can also be considered a form of preservation, can it not?

Arriving at the last carriage, Dan Heng saw the figures of his family. After hesitating for a second, he was dragged into an endless abyss, falling to the ground, where the wreckage of the Express crew lay before his eyes. In the imagery here, the ink wash painting nearby symbolizes the fate that Dan Heng himself must cross. Because Dan Heng, like Dan Feng, is willing to pay any price to save his companions. Ever since the sea-opening battle on the Xianzhou, Dan Heng has consistently borne the karmic debt left by Dan Feng with silent responsibility. He accepted the causality flowing through his veins but never truly understood the weight behind his predecessor's choices.

In the Version 3.6 storyline, at the moment when destinies overlapped, he finally understood the loneliness and the resolve behind that solitary figure from a century ago. The helplessness and obsession behind it—this isn't a simple inheritance but a nirvana of the soul. The most touching interpretation of Imperishability lies not in inheritance, but in transcending through understanding and being reborn through trailblazing. Furthermore, the meeting between Dan Heng and Dan Feng in the 3.6 storyline is essentially Dan Heng conversing with himself: when we return to the Divine Enlightenment Tree Court, a remnant image of recollection appears. Activating it allows us to see two Dan Hengs. Investigating the dialogue shows that these are the original character designs for Dan Feng and Dan Heng, confirming that throughout the storyline, it has always been him talking to himself.

Returning to the PV, an angry Dan Heng wants to pound the floor. But fortunately, here, the Trailblazer grabs Dan Heng's hand. First, it was our hand that grabbed Dan Heng's, then Welt Yang and March 7th's, and finally Himeko's. Dan Heng is no longer alone. Everyone slowly places their hands on Dan Heng—this scene is truly divine.

The perpetually afflicted tree court exploded once again in Dan Heng's PV. The three Dans of this life, past and present, shared the screen; three facets of the soul rushed forth. Seeing this, one can't help but sigh— turns out Cyrene wasn't the true entity of Amphoreus; Dan Heng and March 7th are the true incarnations of Amphoreus, for they are the convergence point of three Paths.

Just kidding. In the final scene arrived at, Dan Heng, in a daze, saw his family. He walked out from under the tree's shade, symbolizing Dan Heng has left the past behind and is heading towards a new beginning. Finally, Star Rail also designed a unique transition for Dan Heng; the transformation of maple leaves into the logo is truly eye-catching, a very, very striking icon. From the retreating figures of Seele and Bronya on Jarilo-VI to now having Phainon and Aglaea behind him, and March 7th also transformed into the Evernight form. Here we can see that Teng Huang has four long claws, which also suggests Dan Heng might evolve into a five-clawed dragon in the future.

Teng Huang's normal attack is a one-handed thrust and upward slash, demonstrating remarkable arm strength. His skill provides allies with a shield interaction, featuring design elements reminiscent of a "Sānxīngduī" mask. Furthermore, we can see that Dan Heng's Ultimate involves five dragons. Earlier, in the "Thousand Stars Journey" PV, the history of the Xianzhou also depicted five dragons migrating afar. The names of Dan Heng's skills are all derived from ancient Chinese texts, each representing his transformation in the storyline: he no longer hesitates but persists in his true self, his inner strength growing steadily. The amusing anecdote about holding breath underwater for 100 minutes, mentioned by Changyue, actually corresponds to Imbibitor Lunae; as March 7th once noted, Dan Heng's ability to hold his breath for long periods is a renowned trait.

Dan Heng's Path is profound and glorious. In the Version 3.6 storyline, three dragon shadows are simultaneously reflected: Dan Feng, clinging to the past; Dan Heng, seeking his true self; and Terravox, who simulates imperishability yet is trapped by duty. When Terravox believed he would dig his own grave and be consumed by the furnace of rebellion, Dan Heng responded by emerging from dormancy and transforming into the soaring Terravox. There is no preaching, no blame, only complete seeing and acceptance. It bears all of Terravox's obsessions, pain, and resentment, transforming the 2.16 million trapped electrical signals into sparks, leading them out of the eternal cage.

Now, it is not only Cerydra; the beliefs of Terravox and others are also destined to soar towards the starry sea. Dan Heng makes the broken whole and sets the trapped free.
