With Phainon's explosive popularity and the in-game launch of Honkai: Star Rail's collaboration event with Fate, many Travelers must be eager to join the Trailblazer family! In fact, Genshin Impact players face almost no barrier when diving into Star Rail, as many of Star Rail's settings and mechanics are similar to Genshin's.
Today, let me map these elements one-to-one to help Travelers quickly grasp the game's terminology when starting their Star Rail journey.
1. Honkai: Star Rail / Genshin Impact - Character Gacha/Banner System
As a game in the anime-style genre, the gacha system is undoubtedly its most appealing feature. Since both are games developed by miHoYo, how do the gacha-related terms in these two games correspond to each other?
Warp = Wish
Star Rail Special Pass = Intertwined Fate
Star Rail Pass = Acquaint Fate
Stellar Jade = Primogem
160 Stellar Jade = 1 Star Rail Special Pass or Star Rail Pass
In Honkai: Star Rail, Warps are divided into Character Event Warp, Light Cone Event Warp, Departure Warp (beginner banner), and Stellar Warp (standard banner).
The Character Event Warp features one limited 5-star character and three 4-star characters per phase. Every 10 Warps guarantees a 4-star character or Light Cone, while every 90 Warps guarantees a 5-star character—though it may be a standard 5-star character instead of the limited one, commonly known as the "soft pity." If the previous 5-star was a standard character, the next 5-star is guaranteed to be the limited character, commonly known as the "hard pity."

The Departure Warp (beginner banner) in Honkai: Star Rail is exceptionally player-friendly. Every 10-Warp pull is discounted by 20%, allowing 40 Star Rail Passes to be used for 50 Warps. A 5-star standard character is guaranteed within 50 Warps, though it may drop earlier. If a standard 5-star character is obtained early, the 20% discount remains, but the guaranteed 5-star effect at the 50th Warp is lost. However, I still recommend using Stellar Jade to exchange for Star Rail Special Passes to pull on limited character banners while using the Star Rail Passes gifted by the system for the Departure Warp. This beginner banner is permanent, not limited to the launch period only.
Another highlight of the Stellar Warp (standard banner) is that after accumulating 300 Warps, you can freely select one standard 5-star character—this opportunity is available only once. Note that Warps spent on the Departure Warp do not count toward the 300-Warp total.
Regarding gacha byproducts:
Undying Embers = Stardust
Undying Starlight = Masterless Starglitter
Similar to Genshin Impact, pulling on banners also returns some materials. Undying Embers can be used to exchange for Star Rail Special Passes, Star Rail Passes, or materials. Undying Starlight can be exchanged not only for Star Rail Special Passes, Star Rail Passes, or 4-star characters, but also for 5-star Light Cones of standard 5-star characters, which is exceptionally valuable. Alternatively, you may choose to save them for 5-star Light Cones."

2. Honkai: Star Rail - Mall System
Express Supply Pass = Blessing of the Welkin Moon
Nameless Honor = Gnostic Hymn
Oneiric Shard = Genesis Crystal

For regular players, purchasing both monthly passes is already quite luxurious, while top spenders can buy additional Oneiric Shards, which convert to Stellar Jade at a 1:1 ratio. First-time top-ups offer double rewards, and subsequent top-ups include bonus gifts.

3. Honkai: Star Rail - Character Development System
Light Cone = Weapon
Trace = Talent
Relic = Artifact
Eidolon = Constellation
Superimposition = Refinement

In Star Rail, Light Cones appear as cards, each featuring a specific character’s portrait, explicitly indicating its role as a signature weapon—straightforward and impactful. Every Light Cone is aligned with a Path; if mismatched, only its base stats apply, not its special effects. Superimposing Light Cones is equivalent to refinement, with a maximum of 5 tiers.

Traces function as Talents. Each character requires different Trace upgrades—for example, healers typically skip upgrading Basic Attacks. Understanding this avoids wasting resources.

The key difference between Relics and Genshin’s Artifacts is that Relics are divided into Outer Set (farmable from Caverns of Corrosion) and Inner Set (exclusive to Simulated Universe).

Eidolons are Constellations. Duplicate pulls unlock one Eidolon level per copy, with a maximum of 6 tiers.

4. Honkai: Star Rail - World System
Trailblaze Level = Adventure Rank
Equilibrium Level = World Level
Trailblaze EXP = Adventure EXP
Power = Original Resin (Stamina)
Immersifier = Condensed Resin
Fuel = Fragile Resin
Credits = Mora
Adventure Log = Character EXP Material

Equilibrium Level functions similarly to World Level in Genshin Impact. The higher the Equilibrium Level, the stronger enemies become, but the rewards dropped also increase significantly. Therefore, it is not recommended to deliberately keep Equilibrium Level low.
5. Honkai: Star Rail - Daily Gameplay
Daily Training ≈ Daily Commission
The use of ≈ is because, unlike Genshin Impact where completing commissions directly grants rewards, Daily Training requires accumulating Activity points by completing tasks. Rewards are claimed only after reaching the required Activity threshold.

Guide = Adventurer's Handbook
Shape of Celestial (Gold) = Ley Line Blossom.
Shape of Celestial (Crimson) = Talent Book Domain.
Stagnant Shadow = World Boss.
Cavern of Corrosion = Artifact Domain.
Echo of War = Weekly Boss.
Forgotten Hall = Spiral Abyss
Memory = Deep Corridor.
Memory of Chaos = Abyssal Moon Spiral.
Simulated Universe is a Roguelike mode not found in Genshin Impact. It allows farming Inner Relics and also provides rewards like Stellar Jade."
With this one-to-one correspondence, don't you feel that as a Genshin Impact player, starting Honkai: Star Rail becomes much simpler? Moreover, Star Rail offers many more player-friendly features than Genshin, such as a guaranteed 5-star character in the beginner banner, the removal of Epitomized Path (weapon pity system) in the weapon banner, and the option to freely select a standard 5-star character after 300 pulls on the standard banner. That concludes this section—hope it helps all Trailblazers!
