The “Allegory of the Cave” is a philosophical metaphor proposed by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato in Book VII of The Republic. It illustrates the limitations of human perception, the significance of education, and the philosopher's mission to pursue truth. This allegory stands as one of the most famous thought experiments in Western philosophy, profoundly influencing the development of metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics.
In the story of Amphoreus, a realm isolated from the broader HSR universe by the entanglement of three Paths, the world itself is a 'cave.' Its inhabitants are oblivious to the powers—the Aeons—that dominate and influence their reality. The existence of the Titans corresponds to the shadows cast by these Aeons through the holes of the cave.
Just as the light currently gracing Amphoreus is merely a fleeting moment created by Cephalus's 'Dawn Machine,' the true Amphoreus lies deep within a subterranean cavern, besieged and gradually submerged by the Black Tide. Meanwhile, Aglaea's crusade to execute any local attempting to escape Amphoreus conditions those imprisoned within to view the world beyond the sky as a source of harm, causing them to reject any effort to seek it.
